spun yarn

Ring spun polyester yarn is a type of yarn that is produced using the ring spinning process. It is made from polyester fibers, which are synthetic fibers known for their strength, durability, and resistance to wrinkles and shrinkage.

The ring spinning process involves feeding polyester fibers through a series of rollers and drafting zones to align the fibers and reduce their thickness. The fibers are then twisted together using a spinning spindle and a rotating ring. This twisting process creates a continuous and smooth yarn with a high level of strength and uniformity.

Ring spun polyester yarn is known for its softness, smoothness, and excellent drape. It is commonly used in the textile industry for various applications, including apparel, home textiles, and industrial textiles. It can be used to produce a wide range of products such as t-shirts, shirts, dresses, bedding, curtains, and upholstery fabrics.

The characteristics of ring spun polyester yarn, such as its strength, durability, and resistance to pilling and abrasion, make it a popular choice for many textile manufacturers. It offers good color retention and is easy to care for, making it suitable for everyday use. Additionally, ring spun polyester yarn can be blended with other fibers, such as cotton or rayon, to enhance its properties and create unique fabric blends.

Overview

Our spun yarn is built for consistent results in socks, hosiery, circular knitting, and weaving. Longtai manufactures in Datang Town, Zhuji, Zhejiang—one of the world’s largest hosiery clusters. We supply polyester spun yarn and complementary sock body and elastic solutions with dependable quality, responsive lead times, and flexible customization.

Integrated raw materials and sock machinery know-how help you move from trials to mass production efficiently.

Types and Specifications

  • Polyester options: Choose ring‑spun for smoother hand and higher strength, or OE yarn for cost‑efficient durability. Evenness supports clean knitting and weaving with stable stitch formation.

  • Counts and twist: Ne 10/1 to Ne 40/1, with popular Ne 20/1 and Ne 30/1. Double constructions such as Ne 30/2 are available. Twist (TPM/TPI) can be tuned for strength, pilling resistance, and hand feel.

  • Colors and packages: Raw white, black, and yellow as standards, plus dyeable options. Cones on paper or plastic, typically 1.0–1.67 kg per cone. Export packing includes shrink wrap, cartons, and pallets.

Blends for socks and apparel

On request, blended yarns such as poly/cotton or poly/viscose balance moisture management and softness with durability. We recommend fiber ratios to match knitting gauge, shrinkage targets, and color depth.

Hosiery elasticity: covered yarn vs body yarn

Use polyester spun yarn for the sock body to deliver comfort, cover, and appearance. For cuffs and shaping, pair with Polyester Rubber Covered Yarn (e.g., RCY 100#7575) to achieve controlled stretch and recovery in ribs and arch support.

Applications

  • Socks and hosiery: Ring‑spun polyester provides smooth stitches, abrasion resistance against shoe friction, and solid color fastness through repeated washing. OE yarns reduce cost while maintaining everyday durability for volume programs.

  • Knitting and weaving: Fine counts suit lightweight jerseys and scarves; medium counts support T‑shirts, rib, and terry. In woven uses, the yarn offers good cover and snag resistance for pocketing, workwear, and linings.

  • Scarves and accessories: Stable twist supports consistent drape and bulk. Optional blends deliver a softer hand with easy care.

Customization and Support

Set the parameters for your line: count, twist, strength (tenacity), evenness (U%), and hairiness to meet knitting efficiency and hand‑feel goals. We advise on ring‑spun versus OE by machine gauge, target GSM, and finishing route. Develop brand colors or match lab dips with controlled batch consistency. Choose cone type, cone weight, and winding density to fit your machines and reduce waste.

Standard MOQs support pilots and scale‑up. Typical lead times are 10–25 days depending on count, twist, and color. Contact us for a quote or sampling plan; our team responds within 24 hours.

Manufacturing and Quality

Longtai operates in the Datang hosiery hub (Place of Origin: Zhejiang, China) with access to fibers, auxiliaries, dye houses, and sock machinery. A 200‑person team runs integrated ring‑spun and OE lines. Electronic yarn clearers, precision winding, and conditioning support uniform evenness and low defect rates for stable knitting speed. Our digital showroom demonstrates facilities and product proofs.

Routine tests include count CV%, strength/elongation, hairiness, pilling tendency, and color fastness. Each lot carries traceable batch IDs to secure repeatability.

Packing and Delivery

Moisture‑proof packing, stretch wrap, edge protection, and palletization safeguard yarn in transit. Standard markings and documents support customs clearance and global shipments.

We ship regularly to Germany, Italy, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Myanmar. Deliveries also reach Australia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and parts of Africa by sea or air according to urgency.

Buying Guide

  • Spun vs filament: Spun yarn uses staple fibers for a more natural hand and cover; filament has higher luster and strength. For socks and everyday knits, polyester spun yarn balances comfort, durability, and value.

  • Ring‑spun vs OE: Ring‑spun offers better softness and strength for premium hosiery. OE provides robust, economical performance for basics. Selection depends on gauge, abrasion needs, and target cost.

  • Counts for socks: Common choices are Ne 20/1–32/1 for body yarns, often with higher twist for wear resistance. Pair cuffs with covered elastic yarn for fit recovery. We validate on sock machines to confirm knitting stability.
